The success goes on: 4th “Open Day” at LILAMA 2

The 4th Open Day at LILAMA 2 International Technology College on 9 April attracted around 1500 grade 12 students as well as 40 teachers, principals and vice-principals of ten high schools from the Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc provinces.

The Open Day is a well-established format for high school students to exchange information with teaching staff and the management board of LILAMA 2, the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA), company representatives, German experts and with their peers, who are currently learning at the college. For many students, the most exciting experience during the Open Day was to take part in practical activities and exercises in the state-of-the-art equipped workshops at LILAMA 2. Currently enrolled trainees at LILAMA 2 shared their experiences about the specific occupation that they are being trained in, the training organisation, which is practically oriented and especially the active participation of partner companies in the training process. As always, entertainment did not fall short either: The guests enjoyed music performances and a tombola.

The promotion of TVET as the right career choice requires strong cooperation between TVET institutes such as LILAMA 2 and high schools. Therefore, teachers and high school management joined a workshop on career orientation that was held at the Open Day.

“You, as the teachers at the high schools, are TVET ambassadors to promote vocational training as career option for your pupils” – Mr. Peter Wunsch, Senior Technical Advisor (GIZ) has conveyed the message within the mini workshop.

Mr Le Van Sy, the Principal of Loc Thai High School from Binh Phuoc province, took the ball: “This event was indeed impressing! This is the first time we as teachers and students had been invited by a vocational training institute to visit their learning environment. I have gained remarkable insights about state of the art practical equipment through the workshop tour. This is the great chance for me to convincingly consult our pupils and their parents to consider vocational education as the right career choice for the future”.

The event had been held with the joint support of the Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

The Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
