CNC training in Vietnam – successful completion of training courses

From 28 July to 15 August 2008 a training course on CNC turning was organized for the vocational teachers and instructors of the project partner schools at UTE Hung Yen. This was the final course of a series of training courses held in Vietnam realized within the Public Private Partnership (PPP) between GTZ – Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) project and the European Association for Vocational and Social Education r.s. (EBG). From March to August, a total of 16 teachers and instructors took part in 4 training courses

In that time the following modules have been successfully completed by the participants:

  • Introduction to traditional turning and milling

  • Basics in CNC technology

  • CNC milling

  • CNC turning

During theory and practice sessions all participants working capacities in CNC technology were improved. Based on the results of the 4 training courses, 8 out of 16 participants have been selected for an intensive training course of 12 weeks at EBG in Germany that will take place from mid-September to mid-December 2008. Teachers and instructors will be trained in metal cutting techniques and technologies, CNC, as well as in basics of vocational education, didactics and methodology.

The aim of the training in Vietnam and Germany is to make use of the improved capacities of teachers and instructors and increase the quality of (further) training at vocational institutes. It is expected that, in the future, this team of qualified teachers and instructors will help to insure that training offered by the vocational institutes will meet industry demands, and that material provided by the German Financial Cooperation (FC) will be utilized effectively in (further) training at partner schools. The first pilot training of selected workers from enterprises will be carried out by the trained teachers and instructors with the assistance of EBG experts in 2009 at selected partner schools.
