Basic Sheet Metal Processing for Vocational Teachers of Metal Technology

From 17 to 28 July 2017, the training course on Basic Sheet Metal Processing was successfully organised at LILAMA 2 International Technology College (LILAMA 2). Thirteen teachers/ instructors from TVET partner institutes of Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI), Ho Chi Minh Vocational College of Technology (HVCT) and LILAMA 2 attended the course.

Under the guidance of Mr Johannes Frey, Development Advisor at LILAMA 2, and Mr Nguyen Hong Tien, LILAMA 2 teacher the participants learnt (i) to develop Work Step Plans and Examination Sheets for performance assessment of students, (ii) to select and apply different marking gauges and measuring instruments for Sheet Metal processing, (iii) to set up, operate and maintain tools & machines for Sheet Metal processing, and (iv) to describe, demonstrate and observe safety regulations.

During the training course the participants were instructed to produce semi-complex Sheet Metal Projects such as Drawer Dividers, Sheet Metal Boxes and Milling and Lathe Tool Holders. Besides practical work, the course included also operational planning as well as the consequent evaluation of the products and the manufacturing process for quality assurance (regarding functionality, appearance and dimensional accuracy).

After completion of this training course the participants are expected to conduct practice-oriented Sheet Metal processing training for their trainees and to utilise the processing tools & machines effectively. The teachers/instructors are also asked to undertake further multiplication measures for their fellow colleagues at their institutes.

The training course was held within the field of activity “Support of Centres of Excellence for TVET” as part of the Vietnamese-German Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam.
