In the field of Textile and Garment, the support of the programme component Promotion of TVET focuses on capacity building for teachers and trainers and garment specialists of two partner institutions, Hung Yen University of Education & Technology and Nguyen Tat Thanh College. The aim is to improve the relevance and effectiveness of the training in the context of the rapid development of the Vietnamese Garment industry.

One activity has been a training workshop on development of labour-market-relevant training modules. In view of the framework curriculum (issued by Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Vietnam), we review, discuss and bring in updated knowledge and skills from studies and experiences of countries in the region and around the world. We also support the two partner institutions in establishing consistent relationships with the industry in-country through working visits and exchanges with factories and Buying Offices. This facilitates the relevance of training modules and programmes to industry requirements both within the country as well as internationally.

In order to ensure effective application of the developed training modules and materials in the training process, teachers/instructors are also trained on didactical issues with assistance of international consultants.

Based on a needs-assessment applying professional methodology, training modules of 6 themes were selected for review and further development: Pattern Making, Pattern Softwares, Marketing, Product Development, Sourcing and Maintenance of garment equipment.
