Vietnamese – German Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam contributed to the successful participation of the Technical and Technology College LILAMA 2 in the TalentBiz – German Job Fair 2015

On 24th October, 2015, the TalentBiz German Job Fair was organized by the German Business Association (GBA) and the Delegate of German Industry and Commerce (GIC-AHK) for the first time in Viet Nam at Hoa Lu Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City.

Nearly 2,000 students from universities and colleges in the city registered and attended the Fair. This is a good opportunity for young people to access and get to know the recruitment demands of German leading companies in Viet Nam such as Mercedes Benz, Siemens, Bosch, etc.

70 students and teachers of Technical and Technology College LILAMA 2 (LILAMA 2 College) with the support of the Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam attended the Job Fair. The event was a great chance for LILAMA 2 College to make an overall introduction about the College, its achievements in the development process towards becoming a Centre of Excellence for TVET in Viet Nam offering initial and further training based on international standards.

At the College’s booth, its teachers and students presented advanced and modern, practical equipment and products created by students with high quality and accuracy, meeting the requirements of enterprises to the visitors of the Job Fair. This was a useful experience for teachers and students of the College and an opportunity to introduce the key training offers of the College in Mechatronics, Metal cutting/CNC, Industrial Electronics and Construction Mechanics to potential students as well as the German enterprise community. This is one step towards attracting more students to the College and to establish a closer cooperation with the business sector – a necessary effort of LILAMA2 College as a Centre of Excellence for TVET which offers training based on the needs of the economy.

The Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam has supported the College from the initial stage of preparing the concept, designing the booth and communication materials, such as four occupational leaflets). This Programme is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. During the preparation period for the College’s booth at the Job Fair, the GIZ staff worked closely with the College Board of Management, teachers and students to create the most interactive and effective activities.

In addition to receiving information on German companies at the booths at the Job Fair, students from faculties of Mechanical Engineering, Installation Mechanics, Welding Technology, Industrial Electrics/Electronics and Management Accounting of LILAMA 2 College also had the opportunity to access the leading recruitment companies, get to know the recruitment processes of German enterprises and received advice on preparing their CV and on the appropriate behavior and attitude when attending a professional job interview.

Participation in the Job Fair was a remarkable effort in promoting the image of TVET in general and the quality of training at LILAMA 2 in particular. Especially for teachers and students of LILAMA 2, this event was an inspiring and memorable activity as shared by a female student:

Being able to come to the Job Fair, becoming the member of a booth, directly meeting German enterprises and other students, witnessing their recruitment activities, talking about my own expectations was a very useful and exciting experience, which helped me become more confident about my abilities.

Sincere thanks to the College and GIZ”
