“Tet is in the air”

On the occasion of Lunar New Year, Binh Than, the German advisor and programme officers of the Field of Activity 2 “Support of Centres of Excellence” together with the Management Board of the Technical and Technology College LILAMA 2 jointly organized a meaningful activity.

Mr. Peter Wunsch, Senior Technical Advisor of GIZ, and Mr. Nguyen Khanh Cuong, Vice Rector of LILAMA 2, visited the department heads of the Provincial People’s Committee, the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA), and the Department of Planning and Investment (DoPI) in the Dong Nai province for Tet congratulation. On this occasion, Mr. Wunsch expressed the best wishes for “Tet” and his appreciation for the support and contribution of the provincial relevant counterparts to vocational training at LILAMA 2 in particular, and to the vocational training system in Dong Nai in general. He hopes that in the upcoming year, the Dong Nai Province, located in a dynamic and rapidly growing economic zone of Vietnam, will effectively extend the strong support and investment in vocational training activities and act as a bridge between LILAMA 2 and local enterprises.

According to Mr. Pham Van Cong, Deputy Director of the DoLISA, the Dong Nai Province will continue to focus all resources on developing the education and training sector in order to provide high-skilled technicians who meet the demands of local enterprises in the manufacturing and industrial sectors. More specifically, LILAMA 2 has the honor to be selected as a key college who shoulders the task to train high-skilled technicians for the construction of Long Thanh international airport.

The importance of skilled labor as a competitive factor was underlined by Mr. Cao Tien Dung, Director of DoPI. He sees a significant role of LILAMA 2 in providing demand-driven TVET offers and appreciates the respective Vietnamese-German Cooperation.

Mr. Nguyen Khanh Cuong, Vice rector of LILAMA 2, informed about the College’s activities, particularly the training of teachers, the development of occupational standards and vocational training programmes based on labor market demand and the preparation of facilities and equipment for workshops to conduct the demand-driven vocational training programs.

Parallelly, the team members Ms. Pham Thi Huong Giang, Mr. Ralf Hill, and Mr. Bach Hung Truong together with their counterparts of LILAMA 2 paid visit to the partners such as professional associations (e.g. VCCI and Electric-Mechanic Association of Binh Duong Province) and companies in order to convey their sincere thanks for the support in the last year and to express their wish to continue and extend the fruitful cooperation in the upcoming year.

As planned, after the Lunar New Year festivities, the LILAMA 2 Management Board together with German experts will work with the relevant provincial authorities, partner organisations, associations and companies to implement activities for a strong cooperation between LILAMA 2 and local business sector.
