Ninh Thuan Vocational College maintained its recruitment activities during the pandemic.

“Which occupation is suitable for me? What do employers expect from applicants? Can women enroll in technical trades? Career prospects for vocational training graduates?…On 16 May 2020, Ninh Thuan Vocational College organised a livestream information session to give students and their families a better understanding about vocational education and training and the training programmes provided by the College. Speakers of the session were Mr Nguyen Phan Anh Quoc, Rector of Ninh Thuan Vocational College, Ms Le Minh Thuy, the representative of My Son – Hoan Loc Viet, a solar energy company in Ninh Thuan. She is also the representative of Suleco (Labour and expert export service joint stock company). Besides, Mr Nguyen Hoai Nam, an alumnus from the College’s Industrial Electrics department and now is working as a team leader in a local solar energy company, also joined to share his experience.  

Ninh Thuan province is developing into the National Renewable Energy Center, which leads to increasing demand for high quality technical labors. With close partnerships with more than 70 enterprises in Ninh Thuan and other provinces, Ninh Thuan Vocational College always focuses on its cooperation with the business sector to ensure the demand-orientation of training progammes. As a result, almost graduates find stable jobs relevant to their training.

“Thanks to practical training on modern machines and equipment at the college, I quickly got familiar with my job at the factory. The teachers have also always been supportive whenever I have any difficulty, even after I graduated”, Mr Nguyen Hoai Nam, an alumnus from the Industrial Electrics Department shared.

“All training departments at Ninh Thuan Vocational College are suitable with the business demand. Vocational trainees should get hands-on experience and equip themselves with soft skills and good work attitude to be ready for the real world of work”, Mr Le Minh Thuy recommended.

In response to a question by a female student who considered joining vocational training, Mr Nguyen Phan Anh Quoc, Rector of Ninh Thuan Vocational College, encouraged girls to challenge themselves with technical occupations, beside traditional fields like tourism and service, because all departments are suitable for both boys and girls. In coming June, the College will also organise a Girl Day to help female students better understand technical occupations, as well as to provide information about supporting policies for girls in technical trades.

Ninh Thuan Vocational College offers training for 13 occupations at college level and 16 occupations at intermediate level including technical occupations, service, agriculture, information technology, fashion… with 2,500 to 3,000 trainees a year.

This activity is supported by the Vietnamese-German programme “Reform of TVET in Viet Nam” with the purpose of supporting TVET institutes to maintain their training and recruitment activity during the COVID-19 pandemic. The programme is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) together with the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).
