Industry Advisor Boards Meeting 2023 at VCMI college

In the morning December 15th, 2023, with the support of the Programme “Reform of TVET in Viet Nam” (TVET Programme), the College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI) organized the annual Industry Advisory Boards (IAB) Meeting with the participation of management boards, staff and in-company trainers of 11 partner companies, representatives of TVET Programme, the Rector board and teachers of VCMI.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr Nguyen Van Chuong, Rector of VCMI, presented training results in 2023, training plan in the coming years and his wish to enhance the cooperation with the business sector to increase training quality. He expressed his delight as the IAB meeting this year attracted the participation of some new companies and still maintained good relationships with long-term partners.

With the moderation of Mr Pham Duy Dong – the Vice Rector of VCMI cum. IAB President, company representatives actively shared their thoughts and discussed about advantages and challenges in implementing the cooperative training model, giving recommendations to improve the cooperation between parties to become more effective and planning in-company training phases. During the meeting, 2 new Vice Presidents were assigned: Mr Nguyen Hoang Hiep – President of Mien Dong Corporation and Mr Nguyen Vuong Long – Vice General Director of Global Powersports Manufacturing Inc.

Mr Nguyen Hoang Hiep affirmed at the meeting: “VCMI has been implementing training of specific technical occupations which are in very high demand, usually we found it difficult to recruit workers with high skills, or had to seek in TVET institutions at further locations. We believe VCMI is capable of training high-quality technicians who possess skills and knowledge equivalent to those of in-company staff”.

Before ending the meeting, company representatives and teachers of VCMI discussed and agreed on module contents and in-company training plans of 04 German standard oriented occupations.

This activity was held within the component “Supporting High-Quality TVET Institutes”, supported by the Programme “Reform of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Viet Nam”- on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the Vietnamese Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET).
